Ms. Atkinson is a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, B.A. in Criminal Justice, Cum Laude, 1997. In 2002, she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore, School of Law with a certificate concentration in Business Law. In the fall of 2003, she earned her Master of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Baltimore.
While in law school, Ms. Atkinson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alfred Nance, a current sitting Judge on the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.
Ms. Atkinson is a listed attorney with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Services (MVLS) of Maryland, where she provides pro bono legal services in the areas of foreclosure prevention, bankruptcy, tax controversy, and family law. Ms. Atkinson received the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award from MVLS for her longstanding support of the MVLS Pro Bono Program. In 2013, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Martin O’Malley and Chief Judge Robert M. Bell in recognition of her services with the Foreclosure Prevention Pro Bono Project.
Ms. Atkinson is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland, the Federal District Court of Maryland, the District of Columbia (currently inactive) and before the United States Tax Court. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association.
