Atkinson & Mentzer, LLC is a neighborhood full service law firm serving Overlea, Fullerton, and Perry Hall sections of Baltimore County. We also provide professional services throughout Maryland.

The late Charles "Ed" Mentzer (1941 - 2009) and his father, the late Charles "Steve" Mentzer (1916 - 1999) founded Mentzer & Mentzer, Attorneys at Law and moved to Belair Road in the early 1980's.

In 2003, Lesley Atkinson began his career as an associate attorney working for the Law Offices of Charles E. Mentzer.

In 2005, Yollette Atkinson opened the Law Office of Yollette Prendergast Atkinson not too far from our current location, at 7516 Belair Road. Recognizing the needs of everyday people in the community, Ms. Atkinson focused her practice around consumer bankruptcy, immigration, tax controversies and trusts and estates.

Atkinson & Mentzer, LLC has combined the strengths of both law offices to better serve the community of Baltimore and the surrounding jurisdictions.

Lesley S. Atkinson - Member and Founder

Mr. Atkinson is a 1996 graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. In 2002, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore, School of Law.

While in law school, Mr. Atkinson served as a law intern to the Honorable Paul E. Alpert, a retired Judge on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.

Since 2003, Mr. Atkinson has focused his practice in the areas of Criminal Defense, Traffic Offenses, Family Law and Civil Litigation. He has successfully represented hundreds of clients throughout the State of Maryland in District and Circuit Court.

Mr. Atkinson is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland, District of Columbia (currently inactive) and the Federal District Court of Maryland. Mr. Atkinson is a member of the Maryland State Bar, Baltimore County Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Yollette S. Atkinson - Member and Founder

Ms. Atkinson is a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, B.A. in Criminal Justice, Cum Laude, 1997. In 2002, she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore, School of Law with a certificate concentration in Business  Law. In the fall of 2003, she  earned her Master of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Baltimore.

While in law school, Ms. Atkinson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alfred Nance, a current sitting Judge on the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

Ms. Atkinson is a listed attorney with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Services (MVLS) of Maryland, where she provides pro bono legal services in the areas of foreclosure prevention, bankruptcy, tax controversy, and family law. Ms. Atkinson received the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award from MVLS for her longstanding support of the MVLS Pro Bono Program. In 2013, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Martin O’Malley and Chief Judge Robert M. Bell in recognition of her services with the Foreclosure Prevention Pro Bono Project.

Ms. Atkinson is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland, the Federal District Court of Maryland, the District of Columbia (currently inactive) and before the United States Tax Court. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association.
